The new 349th Cat ® hydraulic excavator is equipped with a Cat C13 engine ACERTTM a net power of 317 kW that meets the requirements of EU Stage IIIB emissions standards. The new 349th Hydraulic Excavator offers an engine power and increased hydraulic compared to its predecessor, the 345D, while providing a constant efficiency, 5% higher on average in conventional applications.
The Cat C13 engine model can work with the 349th diesel fuel with very low sulfur (ULSD) or a mixture of ULSD and 20% biodiesel. It uses the Cat Clean Emissions Module (CEM) to meet the strict requirements of European Stage IIIB emissions standards. The regeneration system EMC is designed to work seamlessly and is triggered to perform the regeneration when the conditions are optimal, without the driver having to intervene. In automatic mode, the Cat Regeneration System allows the machine to function normally without interrupting the cycle. The system automatically knows when to carry out regeneration at idle and while the machine operates to maintain high production performance. The manual mode allows the driver to disable the automatic setting.
Among the many new features of the model 349th saving fuel include the setting-off of idle engine (Engine Idle Shutdown Setting) which selects the duration of idling of the machine before stopping. The system has an idle control by "touch" that lowers the engine speed to idle speed, a second pressure or displacement of the manipulator is sufficient to find a high engine speed, the machine can recover immediately at work. The control system speed isochronous, which maintains constant speed regardless of load, allows for fuel savings, as the "economy" mode of the 349th model when used for less demanding applications.
A hydraulic fuel efficient and robust performance immediate The hydraulic system of the 349th also plays a role in fuel economy. A regeneration valve electric boom collects and recycles water power when the boom is lowered. Similarly, the new valve regeneration circuit of digging arm recycles oil between the ends of the cylinder during operation of the weapon arm at low load. This recycling reduces the volume of oil that the hydraulic pump must produce and can therefore save fuel. The hydraulic equipment is at the heart of the design of the 349th model because it generates a high hydraulic power which is the labor power of the machine. Moreover, the main control valve has been redesigned, which simplifies the configuration of the auxiliary pipe for greater reliability.
Greater comfort for increased productivity The cabin is equipped with a new LCD monitor (LCD) 40% greater with higher resolution and a keyboard interface optimized. The new monitor display also serves as the camera system and rear vision is able to simultaneously view two camera images.

The control system of leveling Cat (optional) to work in depth on slopes and uses sensors front linkage internal to provide real-time position of the tip bucket. A priming pump power is mounted at the base of the primary filter for easy access. The new location of the oil dipstick and oil filter engine allows for a faster routine maintenance. Moreover, the new oil change reduces the risk of spillage. In addition, a new Quick Evac system is available for engine oil and hydraulic oil.
